This paper uses the methods of desk research and interview to interpret the history, practice gist and promotion efficiency of the British Library's preschool children's reading promotion. As an important member of the "Book start" program, the British Library has attached great importance to the recommendation of classified bibliography for preschool children and the collaborative cultivation of their reading interests and abilities. It also gives recommend reading aid to infants aged 0-3 years and infants from vulnerable families, and greatly promoted the implementation of the "Book start" program and the construction of reading atmosphere in British society. China's public libraries can learn from its experience, build a refined reading promotion system for preschool children, the trinity of home, library and kindergarten should be used to cultivate preschool children's reading interest and ability, and provide recommendation assistance for infants and special children groups.
