Abstract
This paper analyses and studies the collection development policy in University of Georgia Library, finds out the characteristics including guided by collection mission, defining responsibilities of library collection, reflecting distinctive discipline characteristics, promoting collection cooperation, recording collection history and setting collection development organizations. The library collection development policy has the following implications for the construction of the university library in China in this field: fully consider the development mission of the collection, define the responsibility of the collection construction, support the construction of key disciplines in the university, attach importance to the coconstruction and sharing of the collection resources, and set up a special post for the collection development.
