This article takes 10 teaching and research university libraries in Japan as research samples, uses literature research, investigation research methods to investigate the current situation and development trend of its subject service. The research results show that: Japan teaching and research university libraries focus on the deep integration of subject service and scientific research activities, supporting information quality teaching service with subject librarian and providing integrated and customized reference and consulting service, It has basically formed a whole life cycle integrated subject service system. Chinese universities can learn from their advanced experience in subject service and establish a subject service framework covering the whole life cycle. Retrieval service to promote resources, cultivating allround service forms and threedimensional information literacy teaching, building integrated nanny knowledge information service system, to form a subject service mode which highlight its own advantages.
