The new media platform not only expands the service channels of library, but also brings significant effect of reader diversion. This paper discusses the necessity of constructing university librarians' new media service ability from five aspects of information environment, library, readers, librarians and design, it holds that librarians play an important role in the development of new media services in library, and they should have professional ability, new media service ability and certain technical ability; library should pay attention to new media positions, improve librarians' new media service ability through vocational training, communication and cooperation, participating in practice and policy supporting.
